Aviation STEM for summer learning

Organize a short program around exploration, practice, and a final mission students can explain.

Start with a shared foundation

Summer groups may bring different ages and prior knowledge. Introduce the controls and core concepts through a teacher-guided demonstration, then use a short task to understand what students already know. Adjust the mathematical demands while keeping the mission meaningful.

Build toward a final challenge

Use successive sessions to add planning, observation, and reflection skills. A final project can ask crews to produce a route, estimate a travel time, and explain their choices after flying. Avoid measuring success only by who learns the controls fastest.

Prepare the staff and space

Confirm supervision, training, equipment access, and the curriculum that fits the session length. Leave time for transitions and equipment checks. Ask STEMPilot to help match the program to the available teaching days.

Prepare your implementation
