Middle school aviation STEM curriculum

Turn a relationship into a prediction

Middle school students can use a simple route to connect distance, speed, and time. Have teams estimate an answer before calculating it, then decide what information they need to improve the estimate. The task naturally opens a discussion about variables, units, and the difference between an ideal model and an observed result.

Give teams a reason to communicate

Flight Crews can divide calculation, navigation, observation, and piloting responsibilities. Rotate roles so every student explains a decision. A brief written debrief helps teachers see individual understanding even when a team shares one simulator.

Select the materials before scheduling

Review the specific lesson plans, teacher resources, activities, and assessments included with your program. Choose a manageable starting mission and decide what students will do while another crew uses the simulator. Ask STEMPilot about teacher training and the curriculum edition in your proposal.

Compare the plan with the result

Choose a short mission, record a predicted time, and note any changes during the flight. Ask students to explain whether the difference came from arithmetic, a changed condition, or a simplifying assumption.
