Aviation STEM for elementary schools

Help young learners explore forces, motion, weather, measurement, and teamwork.

Start with discovery

A short flight demonstration can become a shared question: what changed, what stayed the same, and what might happen next? Encourage students to draw observations and use familiar words before introducing more formal explanations. Keep the activity tied to one idea rather than asking beginners to manage the whole cockpit.

Make participation visible

Use small, concrete responsibilities such as route illustrator, observer, and speaker. A teacher can operate the simulator while students gather evidence, then introduce turns at the controls as appropriate. Choose a curriculum with a verified grade range; the digital Introduction to Aviation program is listed for grades 3–12.

A first classroom mission

Locate two familiar places on a map, compare their directions, and draw a simple route. After a demonstration, ask each student to describe one observation and one new question.

Prepare your implementation

Tell STEMPilot about your student ages, group size, available room, and session length. Request a proposal covering the appropriate simulator, curriculum, professional development, and support. Decide how students will participate away from the controls as part of the same lesson.
