Practice before physical flight

The SafeDRONE program describes students first working through a multi-level drone simulation learning sequence before progressing to guarded-prop quadcopters. Physical exercises can repeat concepts introduced in the simulator. Follow the program’s current training and supervision guidance.

What the introductory kit lists

The SafeDRONE 1 listing includes curriculum and a lesson plan, simulation software and a wireless controller, two guarded-prop quadcopters, spare props and batteries with a charger, landing pads, safety glasses, an altitude hold post, classroom obstacles, and a Part 107 study guide booklet.

Check classroom compatibility

The published simulation software requires a PC and is not listed as compatible with Macs or Chromebooks. Ask STEMPilot to confirm current computer specifications, classroom space, staff preparation, and the kit contents before purchase.

Keep the learning goal clear

A landing task can connect control, observation, measurement, and revision. Ask students to record the intended result and compare it with the attempt. Kit participation and a study guide do not by themselves provide an FAA credential.
